Japanese Classic Car Show :. Long Beach, California 2014
It was 10 years ago a group of Southern California car enthusiasts got together with the idea of putting on a new event that would celebrate Japanese car vintage and culture surrounding the time it was a pretty bold idea, as classic Japanese cars had yet to achieve widespread acceptance.
With old Datsuns more popular than ever and Toyota 2000GTs bringing over a million at auction, which may seem a strange idea today, but things were very different there Of course, there have always been passionate about Datsun fans 10 years, rotary Freaks and old school fans Toyota but it wasn t until the establishment of the Japanese Classic Car Show JCCS they could meet for a unified showing.
It started small, but ECCP has become one of the leading car rallies in Southern California and one of my personal favorite events on the annual calendar in recent years, the event was a fair growth next to the popularity of classic Japanese cars themselves.
With 2014 marking the 10th edition of ECCP, it was sure to be the largest ever for me, it was confirmed that as soon as I drove into the parking lot packed with the Queen Mary in Long Beach along time at home to JCCS the fun began even before I reached the front door, with a wide range of conventional machines to find in a vast parking lot of the event.
After ten years, ECCP has become so great that parking has become a spectacle in itself there was Celicas, Zs and 510s everywhere you look, and I came also through this four-door Hakosuka Skyline, which was looking for a new owner.
Here's a rare find many car coupe Mazda 1982 626 showing off his angular style with pride that I agree completely.
Once I made it inside the show, I'm surprised by what I saw there were literally hundreds of classic cars, spread across the waterfront park and people were everywhere days JCCS is a gathering of worship are definitely a thing of the past.
There are a few years, the show expanded to include classic Japanese motorcycles and this time there was an amazing selection of old school bikes to complete the four-wheeled vehicles.
As ECCP has evolved over the years, so too has the definition of a classic Japanese car that year, the addition of popular models such as the first generation Mazda Miata While some might argue the status of the Miata as a classic car, it certainly helps when they are modified by paying respect to the past cases developed the Pit Garage Woolery Eunos GT with its nose Pit Crew Racing.
Mazda has also in action, highlighting a number of historic Miata his collection to celebrate sports car 25 Club Racer Concept MX-5 appeared at the Chicago Auto Show in 1989.
Mazda has also made the new 2016 prototype Miata After seeing the car in the flesh for the first time, my feeling is that they've done a great job with style Now I just want to know what will be under the hood.
Another brand that's becoming more and more in ECCP is Honda, and in recent years, the show has grown to include many of the major car brand from late 1980s there was a great presentation of civic education and CR-Xs this year, with little more impressive than the Rywire EA-T tailgate.
It's not all civic education but also the hand was this immaculate 1986 Prelude with less than 50,000 original miles on the odometer He was one of many museum quality machines at hand.
Perhaps even more unusual is the Isuzu Impulse equipped with a rare supercharged power plant is always cool to see representation of small Japanese automakers ECCP.
And speaking of these forgotten brands, Mitsubishi offers time does the love they deserve it was very refreshing to see this beautiful Colt Galant GS-R there.
In America, some Japanese classics have an audience more than the Datsun 510 was established and there were dozens of examples present, including the well BRE replica.
One of my personal favorites of the group was that 71 510 own two-door has a small pleasant surprise hides under its hood.
It is not a SR20 or KA24 is a 13B rotation with a 45mm Weber on the old hot rodding on imports of the school at its best.
It was ten years ago, came closest most Americans never see Hakosuka Skyline was in a Japanese magazine or a grainy photo web Today, there are more conventional Skylines in the US than ever, and thriving community around them.
Despite their scarcity and ever increasing values, it is great to see Stateside Skyline owners get more adventurous with their builds Find out Hakosuka race-inspired for example.
None, however, was more mad than Kenmeri bringing not only a runner outside Kaido entirely authentic, but also one RB26 Turbo is below hood as seen in the opening shot of this story Needless to say, a full function is in the works.
Engine swaps are still one of the most interesting parts of the ECCP and this year's show did not disappoint a combinations of more unusual car engine that was Hakosuka.
Despite being a couple of cylinders original configuration of the car, it worked SR20DET looked comfortable in the engine compartment Skyline.
People have swapped all kinds of engines in the Datsun 240Z over the years, but this heavily modified example of SIMTEC Motorsports takes a slightly different direction from the norm.
With a V6 VG30DET built under the hood, the car manages to go against the grain while keeping things in the Nissan family.
Here's an exchange of atmosphere a little more sober Toyota Cressida This might look like a granny machine with its tan paint and plush seats hubcaps.
But his original six-cylinder line was yanked for a 7M-GTE and five-speed manual conversion on a third generation Supra do you like a good sleep.
Is it a wagon S30 Why, yes it is a custom creation based on an original concept Yoshihiko Matsuo stylist of the 240Z.
With cars and motorcycles, ECCP also offers a great rate My favorite trucks turnout was those of this Datsun 620, modified in the style of the 1980s minitruck personalized Talk about a flashback.
Another application of the popular warplane paint system, this time on a Celica GT-S sedan.
Here's a very clean TE72 Corolla is sitting on a set of rare Drag-I wheel Fortran I Dug wheels so that I was inspired to do a full article on the wheels of ECCP, you can expect to see soon.
Legends, rarities, restorations, swaps engine and over 10 years of ECCP 2014 could have been the best ever here's to a decade of great vintage Japanese metal under the Southern California sun.

I need more conventional wheels posts I miss that kind of messages the other hand, the new Miata is one of the most beautiful cars I've seen the end.
The man begs for this meeting RIP style self-otaku photodump post, I feel like there was so much more that we lack something on.
