Nissan Motor will roll out a redesigned model early next year in Japan with an Infiniti badge on the front grille that will be the first time for the Japanese automaker to use the high-end emblem on vehicles sold in Japan, where Infiniti vehicles are simply sold under the Nissan brand.
As the German luxury car brands are becoming more common on the streets of Tokyo, Nissan hopes its redesigned skyline, known as Infiniti Q50 in other markets, will capture a larger share of high-end market, executive vice president Andy Palmer told reporters.
But he also said that just because the Infiniti badge will be on some of its vehicles, that doesn t mean that the company has the brand nationally as the Skyline nameplate is an established name in Japan for more than half -century.

Despite the dominant share of the Japanese auto market Toyota, Lexus is locked in a battle one-on-one with German brands as they introduce smaller, as well as high-end models to meet the tastes of Japanese customers.
