2018 Lexus LS 500h hybrid luxury sedan to debut at Geneva show

2018 Lexus LS hybrid 500h: First Look

2018 Lexus LS 500h hybrid luxury sedan to debut at the Geneva show.
It should come as no surprise that the Lexus luxury brand from Toyota remains enthusiastic about hybrids.
Toyota sold more hybrid vehicles than any other automaker, with luxury models sold under the Lexus brand by contributing to a total just exceeded 10 million.
This trend will continue with the Lexus LS 500h 2018, a hybrid version of the brand's flagship sedan that will debut next month at the Geneva Motor Show 2017 Show.
The hybrid powertrain is the second option for the LS redesigned, which was unveiled in January to Auto Show Detroit 2017.

The other is a 3 5 liter bi-turbo V-6 in the LS 500, coupled to an automatic transmission 10 speed.
Lexus has not offered details on the hybrid powertrain 2018 LS 500h, only releasing a photo of the sedan, which differs from its non-hybrid counterpart mainly badging specific to the model.
The hybrid model LS 600h previous generation uses a 5 0 liter V-8 engine and a version of the hybrid system Toyota Synergy Drive, with all-wheel drive.
Since Lexus is the downsizing of a V-8 to a V-6 in the LS 500 non-hybrid, it seems quite possible that the hybrid will use a smaller gasoline engine as well.
This could at least help the new model back to a better fuel economy than its predecessor, which was more focused on energy production, and sold in very small numbers.
It is possible that Lexus adapt the powertrain its other new high-end hybrid, the cut LC 500h.

This model uses a new multi-step hybrid system that combines a traditional hybrid powertrain based around a 3 out of 5 liter V-6 with a 4-speed automatic transmission.
The suitable automatic transmission was added to give the LC 500h sporting driving experience and engages, by Lexus.
It is unclear whether such a function would be used on the LS 500h, which probably aim to have a smoother, more casual feeling of luxury car.
Previous reports have also suggested that Lexus considering a vehicle with hydrogen fuel cell that can be based on the LS, for launch sometime around 2020.
This car would probably be launched in conjunction with the Olympic Games 2020 to be held in Tokyo and other Japanese sites.

Toyota Lexus mother was one of the most vocal defenders of fuel cell cars, considering them as a better alternative to electric car battery pursued by other automakers.
But Toyota now moderating his views and planning of own electric car battery.
